About

Meet Siggi – Veteran Guide, Photographer & Highland Expert Siggi is a native Icelander with a lifetime of experience exploring the raw beauty of his homeland. A full-time tour guide since 2007, he specializes in photography, drone, and 4×4 adventures — blending technical expertise with a deep-rooted passion for Iceland’s wild landscapes. Before stepping into guiding, Siggi spent two decades running his own photo developing center and wholesale company, giving him a strong foundation in both the creative and business sides of photography. His love affair with Icelandic nature began early — he got his first 4×4 in 1984 and has been hiking, driving, and discovering hidden gems across the country ever since. A true aficionado of Iceland’s remote Highlands, Siggi knows the region like the back of his hand. With his Nikon D850 and DJI Mavic 3 drone always within reach, he’s dedicated to helping others capture Iceland’s untamed beauty from every angle.

Photography

Siggi’s photography is as bold and captivating as the landscapes he explores. Over the years, his work has been widely published in magazines, books, and global campaigns, with images featured by National Geographic, BBC, NASA, GEO, Stern, and Landscape Photography Magazine, among many others. A career highlight came in 2001, when one of his photos was selected by National Geographic as one of the 100 best ever published — a testament to his skill and unique eye for nature. His favorite photographic subject is geology, particularly volcanoes, though his expertise extends to Iceland’s Highlands, birdlife and wildlife, glaciers, and the elusive northern lights — a phenomenon he’s so passionate about that he even published a dedicated book on the aurora. With deep knowledge, field experience, and a drive to share Iceland’s natural wonders, Siggi doesn’t just take photos — he tells the story of the land through every frame.

Testimonials

Private Highlands Tour
“In September 2024 I spent 4 days on the Highlands with Siggi. You probably could not have made a better choice. He was friendly and knowledgeable on many subjects besides Iceland and photography. He made suggestions based on my original request and was able to make adjustments on the go. He was an excellent driver and didn’t take any unnecessary risk. All in all, a perfect fit for me.

Siggi was very good. He battled the weather throughout the workshop so we usually had somewhere to go and "shoot". He was very aware of limitations that several of us had and worked to make our trip possible. We really enjoyed our time with him.
